Hunting

Jim loved going up to the mountains to hunt during deer season.  Jim had a real knack for never missing getting his "buck"! Everyone that went up with us, his brother Joe, Stanley, Joe Jr., Art Shipley, cousin Carmen,  brother-in-laws Moose and George, could never figure out how he was always so "lucky"!  After several years of this going on, his brother Joe figured it out,  Jim would take someone with him to his "favorite spot" up on top of the mountain in potter county, especially a new hunter, he would place himself in his "reserved spot", and send whomever was with him, either above or below him to find a spot to sit.  Jim knew exactly where the deer would break up or down,   once they spotted, or got the scent of the other hunter Jim had put in place. Sure enough, when no one would go with Jim, he came back empty handed!!   Jim's other "trick" was to wait for about an hour or so, till all the hunters left the cabin, then Jim would take a slow and leisurely walk towards his favorite spot!  You see, it was always very cold on top of these mountains, and when the hunters would get into place, after about 30 minutes or so, they would start to move around, drink coffee, (or home made wine) and this would spook the deer, and send them, yep, you guessed it, right towards Jimmy!!  These are memories I will always treasure,  Jim, you will surely be missed my brother, rest in peace till we meet again!!
