We have lost a beautiful soul. My condolances to her wife, sister, nephew and friends may you find comfort in your memories of Dawn and in each other and all of us who knew and loved her. Dawn touched everyone who was blessed to encounter her. And if you had the honor of engaging in a conversaton with her, you walked away with a smile and warm feeling. Even during her battle with cancer she continued to shower you with her love. I know I have an angel in heaven watching over me. Tell Bernice we said hello. Rest in heavenly peace Dawn!!

Myrna, Dale, Christian & Family

My heart is broken…
I do not want to say Goodbye…
I’ve spent the last several weeks trying to find the words to adequately express my condolences for the loss of your wife, sister, aunt and “My Girl” Dawn. Like you and so many others who lives she touched, I loved her and she will be sorely missed.
Dawn was my work colleague, my mentor, my senior toxicologist, my confident, my sister, my HomeGirl, My Girl and my friend. I met Dawn in 1997 during my interview for the toxicologist position at EPA. We hit it off immediately during the interview and I prayed I would get a chance to work with her. There was something about her calm, soft-spoken, gentle spirit that was special and I could feel it immediately! Praise GOD, I got the job and over the next 23 years I was blessed to work with one of the most intelligent, humble, kind, considerate, compassionate and caring person I had ever met in my entire life. She immediately became my mentor, teaching me about the Superfund program, risk assessment and toxicology. I marveled how effortless she managed numerous sites, constant meetings, regional and national workgroups, travel, community meetings, demanding managers and daily calls from her sister Dale. ☺ All with a smile on her face, patience, respect, empathy and grace.
I looked up to Dawn like a Big Sister. I could talk to her about anything and she would always find the time to listen, offer a shoulder to cry on or a much needed hug. We shared much laughter, many family stories, growing up in Philly stories, how much she loved and adorned her nephew Christian stories, how we both were close to our families, how we both live only a few blocks from our twin sisters (I have a Irish twin sister), how she loved her dogs, how she missed her Ma, how she loved visiting Italy and how much she loved her wife Myrna. I joined the EPA Dragon Boat Team because of Dawn. I would follow her anywhere!!
Dawn and I discovered we had a lot in common despite her Italian South Philly heritage and my African-American West Philly culture. There weren’t many things we didn’t discuss and she supported me through all my life trials, tribulations, victories, defeats and major life events. She supported my decision to become a single mom at 36 years of age. She attended my baby shower, supported my son Bach throughout his life and attended my 50th Birthday Celebration. Dawn was always there for me! Always! She was a friend who I could always count on and I knew who loved me and had my back. I considered her apart of my family. She was my sister. She was “My Girl!”
I have many fond memories of Dawn that I will cherish forever. I pray that you will find peace and comfort in knowing that your sweet wife, sister and aunt Dawn touched many lives in a positive way. Dawn made me strive to be more patient and kind to others. She was my role model to becoming a better person. We all could use more people like Dawn in this world. I am going to really miss her and I feel very blessed GOD allowed her to share a piece of herself with me. There is no doubt in my mind Dawn is resting with her “Ma and Pa” in God’s Kingdom because she was an Angel while here on earth.
Please accept my sincere condolences. Praying that you may be comforted by these words of our beloved one. I love you Dawn! Until we meet again….

Your Girl Linda
