Obituary for Vittorio Vellucci

Vittorio Vellucci grew up in Gaeta, Italy. He graduated from the Istituto d'istruzione secondaria superiore "Giovanni Caboto."   In Gaeta, he played for the local semi-professional soccer team and competed both locally and nationally in running meets. He went on to do his military service in Trieste and then worked for two years with the Richard Ginori Company in Milan. he had taken a national exam to join the Italian Postal Service and was notified that he had won a position and was stationed in Umbria. He eventually rose to be a Director in the Postal service.

After his move to the US, he found his dream job of being a soccer referee, becoming a certified referee with both the Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association and the NISOA, the national college division. For more than 30 years, he refereed from the youth level through college games. He was thrilled that the sport was finally becoming popular in this country with both young men and young women.

In recent years, he has continued his love of soccer, being an avid fan of Italian soccer, especially his beloved team Internazionale. He has made annual trips back to Italy to visit with all of his family there in Gaeta and Latina. But his greatest joy has been his US family, his son Vincent and daughter-in-law Ruthie, and their gift to him of three loving and adorable granddaughters—Lilliana, Elle and Lucie.
