Life Story/Obituary

Siphong, after a long battle with Leukemia, passed away on March 27, 2018 at the age of 57 in the Penn Medicine Rittenhouse hospice. Born on July 5, 1960 in Laos, she was the daughter of the late Sing Phanphimpha and Khongmy Phanphimpha.

Siphong, with her husband and two sons, immigrated from Pakse village in Laos to America in 1990. She worked hard to build a life for sons in America and along the way she gave birth to a daughter and continued to sacrifice most her time for her children. Both parents working minimum wage jobs to support their family, to create the American Dream for their kids. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, making crafts, and indulging in Thai and Lao dramas. Although she lacked in speaking English she enjoyed helping people within her community. Both parents also supported their friends and family overseas with the little they had.

She was kind, caring, and even a little sassy. She made sure her children learned valuable life lessons but wasn’t too strict in her parenting. Even in illness, she would think about the wellbeing of her family before her own.

She lived with her husband of 28 years, Khounmy Saengchaleun; two sons Sith and Lith; a daughter, Nang; daughter-in-laws, Xay and Jane; and a grandson, Louie.

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral on the morning of Saturday, March 31st from 8:30 to 10:30 at the Baldi Funeral Home on 1331 South Broad Street. The cremation will be held afterwards on the same day at the Philadelphia Crematories on 7350 State Road.
