Sadie C. (nee Cuticchia) passed away on May 12, 2020 at age 105. She was born on September 3, 1914 in Hammonton, NJ to Rosario and Serafina (Albergo) Cuticchia. She lived in Hammonton until she was four years old, and then her family moved to South Philadelphia. She is the second oldest and last living of seven children, which included older sister Mary (Parish) and younger siblings Daniel, Carmela (Toto), Anthony, Edith (Bianchi) and Dante.
She attended the Tasker School (K-4), then the Southwark School (5-8). She graduated the 8th grade at age 13, and then started working at home with her mother tailoring coats. When she was 15 years old she received her working papers and started working at “Charles Baker Clothes” in Philadelphia, where she worked for over 20 years. “Charles Baker Clothes” had three dedicated dressmaker forms with the exact measurements of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Actor Mickey Rooney and Actor/Singer Tony Martin. The gentleman would pick swatches of fabric, and send the orders of what they would like made. Most of the time these gentleman would request “The girl who made my clothes last time”. They never knew “The girl”, but Sadie made a variety of clothing for these gentleman which included sewing the sleeves onto the suit that President Eisenhower wore for his inauguration. On April 16, 1934 she married Hector Maneri at the age of 19.5. They had two children, Grace (Ward) born March 5, 1935 and Anthony born December 15, 1936. They both pre-deceased Sadie. She was widowed in 1965 and never remarried. She moved to Warminster, Pennsylvania in 1967 and lived there until 1985; upon which she moved back to South Philadelphia. Sadie has three grandchildren, Anthony Maneri, Lawrence Ward, and Lori Ward (Bistline), and one great-grandchild, Garrett Maneri. Sadie has been residing in the Voorhees Care and Rehab Center in Voorhees, New Jersey since March 2013. Her Services and Interment will be held Privately.
