Obituary for Marie LoBianco

Marie LoBianco was born and raised in South Philadelphia. She loved opera and had a beautiful singing voice. When she was in her 20s, she took voice lessons and studied with Irene Williams, who also taught Mario Lanza. She performed in local opera productions and concerts. She then met her true love, Tony, at St. Paul’s Church, who noticed her when she was singing in the choir there. They later married at St. Paul’s and had three children, all of whom, were baptized there. In 1974, the family moved to Cherry Hill, N.J., and Marie gave up singing until the children were grown. She then started singing again and joined the Philadelphia Opera Group. She performed in many productions at Palumbo’s and took on roles that required her soprano voice. Marie also took voice lessons with world renowned Metropolitan Opera star Gabriella Tucci, who told her that she never should have stopped singing and that she could have made it to the Metropolitan because her voice was so beautiful. But, to Marie, family was more important. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her family and many friends, who loved her for her kindness, wisdom and truthfulness.
