Obituary for Lorraine M. Gardner (Giletti)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Lorraine M. (Giletti) Gardner on March 13th, 2023, after her heroic battle with cancer. She was surrounded until the very end by her adoring children, Michael, Nina, Amy, and Peter (Gardner).
Lorraine was passionate about people and their well-being, relentlessly offering physical and emotional support to so many. She often sacrificed her own needs and comfort to lift others up and lighten their burdens. It never mattered if she was tired or ailing, Lorraine was determined to give love and whatever aid she could.
Despite very tough circumstances, Lorraine raised four children on her own, filling each one with her constant love, support, guidance, and strong values. She was fiercely proud of them all. Lorraine was well known for her kindness and generosity, offering rides, running errands, cooking meals, and selecting gifts
to make the lives of family and friends a whole lot brighter. She was always ready to lend a compassionate ear and offer wise counsel to those who had lost hope. Sure enough, Lorraine could always provide comfort and a sense of
optimism that inspired many. And, her great wit and sense of humor delighted everyone who knew her.
Shortly after graduating cum laude from University of Pennsylvania, Lorraine began working at Temple University as an Administrative Assistant and quickly rose to the position of Editor for the college president's (Dr. Wachman's) autobiography. Subsequently, refusing to retire, Lorraine became a licensed, independent massage therapist. She was enthusiastic about writing, reading, and learning languages, especially Italian.
She is the daughter of Mary and Francis Giletti and sister of Ronald and Edward Giletti.
Lorraine's bodily presence will be profoundly missed by us all. She loved, she gave, she comforted, she made us laugh. Her life truly mattered and absolutely still does. For, Lorraine's beautiful, loving spirit endures, and it will shine brightly in our hearts forever.
