Kevin McDermott, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday September 9, 2019 at the age of 42. Born November 17, 1976 to Dennis J. McDermott and Sheila M. McDermott, Kevin was a gentle spirit in a world not nearly as kind. He lived his life in consideration for everyone around him. He gave this world and the people in it more than he ever received in return. In the end, he decided to take his own life. Growing up, Kevin was a caretaker, safety net, teacher, and entertainer to his siblings: Seumas, Patrick, Bridget, Rose, Dennis, Thomas, Mary, and Robert. He had a special way of connecting with children, including those of his siblings: Michael, Timothy, Moira, Colin, Ryan, Chase, and Jacob. The final seven years of his life spent with his loving husband, Pallav Negi, were undeniably the happiest years of his life. Kevin’s smile was wider than ever, his eyes were brighter than ever, he stood taller than ever, he experienced more than ever, he was understood better than ever, and he was loved deeper than ever before. The hole that his passing leaves in the hearts of the people who love him cannot be filled. The ache is a bittersweet reminder that we are the lucky ones to have gotten the time we had with him.
