Obituary for Kaitlyn A. Carter

Kaitlyn A. Carter Born April 27, 1979 – Passed February 23, 2023. Beloved daughter, sister and aunt. Survived by her mother, Kathleen (Gorman) Carter, her brother, Bruce Carter, her sister-in-law, Angela Love, her nephew, Rowan Carter, and her niece, Vivian Carter. She is also survived by an abundance of loving friends who softened her final days by their presence at her bedside. Kate was an extraordinary and terrific human being. She was the pinnacle of poise and grace under horrid pressures and challenges. She never let cancer, which she defied heroically for 12 years, define her. Instead she had a strong love of travel and capitalized on many wonderful adventures domestically and internationally. She enjoyed Quizzo and a trusty Gin and Tonic with the company of her friends. Her love of animals was profound - particularly cats, sloths, and raccoons. Her quirky and beloved humor and wit were precious gifts that served as a bright light that shone constant in the face of struggle and was pure inspiration. Her strength was ever-present and unconquerable.

Kate was head of Digital Initiatives and Strategies for the McCabe Library at Swarthmore College. Services will be held at the Swarthmore Friends Meeting House on the campus of Swarthmore College 12 Wittier Place Swarthmore, Pa 19081. Saturday, March 4, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to your favorite local no-kill animal shelter or Unite For Her, a metastatic cancer support group, 127 East Chestnut Street, West Chester, PA 19380.
