So one day, before our sisters were born, dad takes my brother Tony and myself out to lunch. BOY-OH-BOY! What a treat! Our dad was always soooo busy working. Often times, we'd have to travel to the gas station to see him! He would leave to work before we had waken and returned home past our bedtime. You can just imagine how excited we were as very young boys to go for a "ride" with your dad - ALONE - no one else around to steal his attention! HOLY SMOKES! We were thrilled! Where are we going? What are we going to do when we get there? Daddy says he's taking us to the World Famous MELROSE DINER! Oh my goodness! We had never been there before! What is it dad? Ok boys, we are going to have some burgers and fries. What? Really? Woohoo! Wow, this is great! Uh-oh! Then dad asks "alright guys, how about dessert?" W-w-w-what? Dessert? Oh yeah! Can we have ice cream? Just ice cream? He exclaimed. How about we get some HOT APPLE PIE A-LA-MODE? Uhm, what's that dad? He almost jumped out of his seat when he questioned us "you guys don't know what apple pie a-la-mode is?" "Where have you guys been all your life?" "I dunno dad" we retorted. YO, this stuff is awesome dad! We've loved it ever since! BTW; I've pulled this stunt on some nephews as well. LOL.
