Obituary for Ingrid Tatiana Nunez Garnica

Ingrid Tatiana Nunez Garnica, whose whimsical life touched so many, passed away on Thursday,
November 10, 2022, at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, following a twelve-year bout with
idiopathic lung cancer. She was 30 years old.

Born on June 12, 1992, in Secaucus, New Jersey, Ingrid Tatiana was the daughter of Eduardo and Dassy
(Garnica) Nunez. She will be missed by her fiancé and partner of over five years, John Vincent Ventriglia.
Ingrid is further survived by her parents; her sisters, Dassy Juliana and Gabriela Alejandra; her brother,
Cristian Eduardo, and his wife, Heather Brook Adams Nunez; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews,
in-laws, and other extended family and friends.
Ingrid was Manager of Supply Chain Operations for Blue Apron, a company that allowed her to merge
her passion for food and hospitality. She joined Blue Apron after college. At the time, the company was
a two-year old start-up. She worked in many roles during her tenure with the fast-growing company,
from entry-level customer service associate to operations specialist, to production planner, before
stepping into her most recent role. Many of Ingrid’s most important relationships stemmed from Blue
Apron, which is where she met her one and only love, John. John proposed marriage to Ingrid on
January 20, 2022, and the two were actively planning their 2023 wedding.

Ingrid participated in NJ SEEDS, which prepared her for The Kent School, a place central to many of her
favorite memories. Ingrid received her Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Hotel
Administration at Cornell University in 2014. She graduated on time despite aggressive chemotherapy
treatments that started the spring semester of her freshman year. She traveled to Manhattan from
Ithaca every month for chemotherapy, which did not interrupt her social life, including being an officer
of her sorority Kappa Alpha Theta.

Ingrid was beloved by her doctors and nurses who often credited her for bringing cheer to their usual
rounds. Ingrid would attend her chemotherapy treatments with a Curious George stuffed animal by her
side and an entourage of caring family and friends. Ingrid’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank
you to the many doctors and nurses who cared for her at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in
Manhattan, the Swedish Hospital in Seattle, and the University of Pennsylvania Health System in
Philadelphia. She counted doctors Christopher Azzoli, Cathy Pietanza, and Gregory Riley among her
personal friends. She loved Dr. Valerie Rusch for being such a powerful role model to other surgeons.
Her nurses were fellow sisters to Ingrid, and she will miss spending time with them all, especially nurses
Patty Albanese, Maureen Kennedy, and Amy Rosales.

Like her favorite flower, the sunflower, which turns to face sunlight no matter how it is planted, Ingrid
seemed to always exude hope, joy, and optimism, despite her illness. Her positivity endeared her to
many. She had an amazing group of friends from all eras in her life - the “X” girls from Kent, the 202
Crew from Cornell, her Blue Apron Day 1’s, the Troutman Sisters, and many, many more.
Ingrid loved cooking, eating, and traveling, but developed an incredible passion for painting nails and
training her chunky monkey, Moseley, a black English Labrador Retriever. She also enjoyed traveling to
Colombia and to Alaska to visit family.

Ingrid’s greatest source of joy and strength was the love she shared with her fiancé, John, who wrapped
Ingrid in constant love, friendship, and companionship. She radiated health and beauty on their many
adventures, including trips to Germany, Mexico, Disney World, Kent, Seattle, Seneca Lake, and Margate.
Their most recent trip to Katherine Clinton's wedding in Lake Como (Italy) was particularly special for the
couple. Ingrid will miss spending time with John’s mother, Theresa Harris, John’s recently deceased
grandmother, Frances Harris, and extended family, including Kurt and Jessica Bauer and their daughter,
Audrey.

A celebration of Ingrid’s life will be organized after the holiday season. If you would like to receive
information about this future event, please reach out to John or any of Ingrid’s siblings. The family
would like to collect stories and memories of Ingrid in lieu of flowers. Please consider sending a written
memory or a final goodbye message to Ingrid Nunez c/o The Nunez Family, PO Box 5877, Greensboro,
NC 27435. Messages received will be shared at her upcoming celebration of life. Plans for memorial
contributions will be announced at the celebration of life and posted on social media.
