Guillermo Hiram Vela̕squez of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania U.S.A., passed away on September 1, 2020 from health complications. He was 40 years old.
~Guillermo Hiram Velásquez residente de Philadelphia, Pensilvania U.S.A., falleció el primero de septiembre del 2020, debido a complicaciones de salud, a la edad de 40 años.
Born March 16, 1980 in Medelli̒n, Colombia S.A., Guillermo H. was preceded in death by his father Guillermo Vela̕squez, and survived by his mother Ligia (ne̕e Daza) Vela̕squez, his brother Felipe Vela̕squez, his aunt Rosa Inez Daza, cousins and friends.
~Nació el 16 de marzo de 1980 en Medellín, Colombia S.A., Guillermo H. fue precedido en muerte por su padre Guillermo Velásquez; le sobreviven su madre Ligia Daza de Velásquez, su hermano Felipe Velásquez, su Tía Rosa Inés Daza, primas y amigos.
Raised in Cali, Colombia, Guillermo H. attended San Luis Gonzaga school, and while in Philadelphia he continued his catholic education at St. Helena Elementary, and ultimately graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School where during the trajectory he stablished many dear friendships. Subsequently, his labor trajectory was brief, teaching English while in Colombia, and lastly working as a clerk supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services where he worked for over 5 years; his last occupation was very satisfying, where he enjoyed helping others less fortunate, and where to this day his coworkers watch over him. Guillermo’s progressive health issues forced him out prematurely of his job, while always longing to return one day.
~Guillermo creció en Cali, Colombia donde asistió al Colegio San Luis Gonzaga, más tarde en Philadelphia continuó su educación católica en la escuela elemental Santa Helena y eventualmente se graduó como bachiller de la secundaria Cardinal Dougherty, durante este transcurso estableció apreciadas amistades. Subsecuentemente, su trayectoria laboral fue corta, enseñó inglés en Colombia y finalmente trabajo como supervisor de oficina para el Departamento de Recursos Humanos del Estado de Pensilvania y donde trabajo por más de 5 años. Su última ocupación fue muy gratificante para él, donde tuvo la oportunidad de ayudar a personas menos favorecidas y hasta la fecha sus compañeros de trabajo han estado pendientes de él. Su progresiva batalla con la enfermedad lo forzó a retirarse prematuramente del trabajo, al cual anheló siempre algún día regresar.
Guillermo loved to read, and was very passionate about Japanese anime, MARVEL, and science fiction comic stories; with an ample imagination, he wrote his own stories. He loved to eat, and one of his favorite Colombian dishes was the “Bandeja Paisa”. Guillermo had a noble and gentle personality, while in sickness, he always indicated that he was well, and never demanded anything. He loved his family very much, and his family will miss him greatly, as he is now at a better place.
~Guillermo amaba la lectura y fue un arduo apasionado a las caricaturas Japonesas "anime", MARVEL e historias de ciencia ficción; con su amplia imaginación escribió sus propias historias. Amaba la comida y uno de sus platos Colombianos favoritos fue La Bandeja Paisa. Guillermo tuvo una noble y gentil personalidad, durante su enfermedad siempre indico que se encontraba bien, nunca tuvo una queja o hizo reclamos. Amo mucho su familia y su familia le extrañará grandemente, comprendiendo que ahora se encuentra en un lugar mejor.

Robert Terranova, that will be held on SATURDAY, September 19th from 3:00 – 4:30PM at Pennsylvania Burial Company, Inc. 1327-29 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147.
