David was my professor many years ago at Chestnut Hill College. Years later we worked together an met him several times at WholeFoods. Learned so much from him, admired his integrity and loved his sense of humor. I live in Peru now, and just learned the news while trying to locate him. I am so very sorry for your loss. He lives on within all of us in whom he had an impact. Blessings.

I am just finding this out today. I am beyond heartbroken. Dave was perhaps the most important mentor I have ever had. 25 years ago, his guidance, support, humor, brilliance and goodness helped me survive a position I was too inexperienced to have. My whole career, a professorship, 15 books, 120 articles, would never have been possible without Dave. My heart goes out to his family and all of us whose life he has touched. This loss is almost too much to bear. My your soul forever live my friend.

My deepest sympathies to Jody, Jessye and Lucas. I was lucky enough to meet David 30 years ago and he has been in my thoughts since, having been my revered supervisor, mentor and friend. Even though I moved to the West Coast over 20 years ago, I continued to see or communicate with David regularly. His brilliance was dazzling and I often felt like Dr. Watson to his Sherlock Holmes, but in a good way. Going back some 27 years, I am still amazed by his skill and talent in leading the clients and staff of LMCS in an original adaptation of Pinocchio, a powerful amalgam of music, writing and therapy that taught us all what it was to be real. There were so many potential pitfalls in such a project, but David made it look easy. It was a triumph that still moves me. I love David and miss him terribly, devastated by his loss.

I knew David as a colleague and friend when I worked for RHD, but wish I could have been his lifelong friend. One cannot say enough about David, but several memories illustrate his compassion and caring. A much loved staff member in one of my programs died unexpectedly and David immediately came to the office to offer support and counseling to the grieving staff. Although not part of his job, he also provided clinical supervision to the staff in an insightful, respectful and caring manner which they highly valued. Believe it or not, we once played “Black Magic Woman” together, with me on guitar and David playing his Chinese violin......very fond memory for me.

Dear Jody, Lucas, and Jessye. We were so shocked and saddened to learn of your loss. We always enjoyed the times we spent together. David and I used to share occasionally our experiences working in the mental health field. I always liked and admired him and the work that he did. Also we of course have shared a lot in common having lived on the same block in Germantown and then moving up to Cheltenham around the same time.
Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time....
Love,

What a terrific guy lost way too soon. I had the privilege of knowing David for the past 10 years through our work at Community Care. I admired him greatly for his compassion, his commitment to the kids and families, his humor and his support of others' professional and personal growth. He was small in stature but a giant of personality and knowledge. I will miss him greatly. My sincerest condolences to Jody, Jessye and Lucas.
