Steven and I grew up as next-door neighbors in South Philly, but he was much more to me than simply the boy who lived next door. Only three years older than me, he was my teacher. Countless nights, as teens, we sat on the front steps talking about everything under the sun. He was a huge reader, and he taught me what he’d learned. He shared his philosophy and worldviews about people and life in general. He was a wise man, even then. A kind and good-hearted person, who made me laugh a lot and think beyond my years. The last time I saw Steven was about ten years ago, when my husband and I came to visit family in Philadelphia. I opened the door to our hotel room, and saw his tall, imposing frame filling the doorway, and that smile. I swear he radiated light! Steven was a wise man, in the best sense of the word, and maybe a bit of a prophet, too, because he could see what no one else saw. He was one of a kind, and I will never forget him.

Steve was my cousin and we grew up together in South Philly. Steve was Brave, Kind and Generous with a great sense of Humor since he could turn a negative situation into a positive one.
Growing up, we shared many adventures that are too numerous to list here.
He was a Great man and will be missed.
