Obituary for Anthony Pizzo

Anthony “Tony” Pizzo, 3 June 1925 - 20 October 2021 (96), was the son of Giovanni “John” Battista Pizzo and Vincenza “Jennie” Roselli. Brother to12 siblings. Husband of the late Mary “Jennie” Vanore. Father to John (Anita), Alfred, Anthony (Maryann) Pizzo and Mary Pizzo Voiro (James).

Proud grandfather of 8 and delighted great-grandfather of 11. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Tony was always a honest, easy going, calm natured and patient man. He smiled and joked with everyone he came in contact with. Loved by all.

Tony was born in Philadelphia and at the age of 1 his family moved to Rosenhayn NJ where the family worked on a farm. At the age of 14 Tony and his family moved back to Philadelphia. At the age of 17 Tony enlisted in the US Navy. Tony survived the WWII invasions of North Africa, Italy and France.
After returning home Tony married and became a truck driver until his retirement from Oscar Mayer. After the death of his wife, Tony moved with his daughter to Midlothian Virginia where he enjoyed retirement and family life.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral on FRIDAY October 29th from 9:00 to 10:00am at Stella Maris Church, 10th and Bigler Sts., Phila. Funeral Mass to follow viewing at 10:00am. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
