Obituary for Adam Pearson

Adam Arthur Pearson—who was originally born “Alex” and could never quite get his middle name right (i.e. Aurthur, Archer, etc)—was born at 11:23am on June 30th, 1989 in Somers Point, NJ and died suddenly the morning of February 27th, 2022 at his South Philadelphia home as a result of undiagnosed heart disease.

Left to carry on his legacy are his doting mother, Beth Totten (partner Ron Babinski), his way funnier (looking) sister Theresa, her husband/his life coach, Scott Ackerman, and his nephew and niece, Ferris and Faye who will forever miss their Funcle. He is also survived by his father, Doug, stepmom Lori, siblings Sydney, Evan, and Nadia Pearson, and nearly every grandparent, aunt, uncle, and cousin (which are far too many to list). His devoted group of friends—whether they be the ones he had nearly half his life or those he met just weeks before—will cherish their memories of his laughter and storytelling; Friendsgiving will never be the same.

A carpenter by trade, Adam spent the last five years of his life honing his skills and working alongside Dave Smith (Smithcraft) renovating commercial and residential spaces throughout Philadelphia. Generous and hardworking, he often spent his nights and weekends helping friends, family, and countless neighbors with everything from handyman to full scale renovation side projects. He was passionate about his work and had aspirations of buying and fixing up his own property someday.

In his free time, Adam enjoyed restoring a 1991 Jeep Wrangler which he was so proud had recently been “ducked”. This past October, he fulfilled his greatest honor as Best Man to long time friend Mike McGoldrick and had recently taken his first trip abroad to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday. He loved vinyl records, baking bread, burning candles, TV and movies, mid century decor, good grammar, and losing at board games. He hated the PPA, licking envelopes, and feet. He drank milk with every meal, had q-tips in every drawer, pockets full of loose change, screws, and candy wrappers, and was excellent at parallel parking. He never met a dish of pasta he didn’t like and to know him was to love him. A true humanitarian, Adam donated blood at the American Red Cross as often as he could. Please do so in his honor and memory or consider a direct donation in lieu of flowers.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Adam touched are invited to celebrate his greatness at 11am on Saturday, March 12th at one of the many places he helped build, Triple Bottom Brewing. Bill Murray, if you’re reading this, you’re invited, too
